Over the summer it was great to see the Guides keeping very busy because they were lucky enough to win a grant for activities. They camped, sailed, danced, created artworks, made music, skated, and enjoyed a host of other activities. You can read all about them here: HOLIDAY GUIDES
Since September we have been out and about in the community. At the Earth Day we made fun stuff from junk. At the Village Hall Auction the Guides served refreshements, and at the Church Fair they ran a craft table.
Guides and Brownies were out again on Remembrance Day, ( thank goodness it didn't rain!)
The Rainbows chose to celebrate the Queen's milestone as she became the longest reigning British Monarch, and have been playing games and making things on the theme. When I called in, they were making boats (mini Royal Yacht Britannias) and learning the names of the members of the Royal Family.
Both of the Brownie packs, with new Leadership teams, are enjoying lots of new adventures, trying foods from France, making Diwali lamps, finding their holiday destinations on maps, singing, sizzling sausages, and glittering with sparklers.
Now the weather is turning colder and the days are shorter we are heading for Christmas. Soon we'll be practising our Christmas songs and making decorations ready for the annual Family Social Evening. One of the Guide Laws is, " A guide faces challenge and learns from her experiences', and the leaders are no exception; we are going to try to play ukeleles at the event this year.
