Newton and 1st Grange Rainbows continue to thrive with 19 enthusiastic girls attending meetings on a Thursday. This term we have welcomed two new Unit Helpers in Sharon and Kate, who have been thrown completely in at the deep end and successfully completed a host of activities from building towers from plastic cups (part of the Senior Section Mission Spectacular Challenge) to sewing and giant collage
pictures. Watch out for the giant shamrock, kangaroo (definitely NOT a rabbit), Easter chick, Jigsaw piece and snowman. The giant art was our interpretation of part of the Mission Spectacular challenge, and represents 5 of the activities we have completed this year. The jigsaw piece represents Thinking Day 2016 on the theme of ‘Connect’. You may have seen our jigsaw picture near the kitchen. The girls made beautiful treasure boxes for someone special for Mothering Sunday. As we were able to celebrate several ‘festivals’ (St Patrick’s day, Mothering Sunday, Easter and Lent), everyone was awarded their Roundabout Festivals badge. Hannah, our Young Leader took her promise this term, along with 4 of the Rainbows. We have girls leaving Rainbows this term, some of which are moving up to Brownies.
Sadly we are saying goodbye to Rocket, our Unit Helper of 3 years. Her two daughters have both now completed their journey in Rainbows and have moved onto to new challenges. Thank you Rocket - you will be missed!
