Its supposed to be spring, yet there is heavy snow forecast for tomorrow!
We have reached the end of term after a busy time for all of the units.
We continued the meetings through the snowy and freezing evenings and looked forward to warmer times. Now that we have a trickle heater there is less chance of arriving to find the floor flooded because of a burst pipe. Frosty evenings should be good for star viewing, but, on the night the Rangers planned to stargaze it was thick cloud. :-(
This term brought the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year and World Thinking Day, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and Easter.
I always enjoy seeing the things the Brownies have made in their meetings, and hearing the stories about what they've been up to. When I was a Brownie ( a long time ago!) we skipped round a toadstool every week and wore hand-me-down brown dresses. Now the toadstool only appears at Promise Ceremonies and the Brownies are in modern, styled, yellow and brown outfits.
In addition to our Chinese Evenings, the Rainbows have been finishing off their Madagascar Challenge. I believe that the badges they have now earned have a cute animal on them.
As new Rainbows join the Guiding Family we have older girls in Guides who are finishing off their Baden Powell Challenges. This is the highest award Guides can gain and to have 6 girls working on it at once has been challenging for me as well as for them. Soon I will be presenting the awards at a special evening. I trust that, by then the winter will have finally waved goodbye and real spring will be with us, but I'm not banking on it.
