On 8th October, girls from all units went to The Catalyst in Widnes. Here we met girls from other units in the region to celebrate the International Day of the Girl. A day of science activities beckoned and the Brownies and Guides began with a science show called, Flash Bang! liquids changing colour, solids burning like fireworks, and the properties of frozen Carbon dioxide were amongst the experiments on display. Some of us were able to take part .......
During the day we made plastic shapes, explored Space, saw ourselves in infra red, swung, zipped, learned and played with our friends.
The aim of the day was to change the perception that science is a boy's subject and career choice.
Someday in the future maybe one of these girls will win a Nobel Prize, but we'll be happy as long as they know they have a real choice.
